Stewed Apple Recipe – For gut health

Stewed apples is a super easy & quick recipe that is really beneficial for gut health.
Why? Because they contain a type of fibre called pectin found in the skin which is released
during the stewing process and can help heal, maintain and repair the intestinal lining of our gut.
Apple skins are full of fibre that helps with regular bowel movements (great if you are a little
constipated!)
Its really important to look after your gut health and ensure regular bowel movements to
maintain healthy hormone production and elimination. You need to flush away all the unused or
old hormones within your body to keep the balance. The flavonoids in the apple skin also have
the ability to help reduce inflammation too.
Stewed apples make a great snack or dessert, especially if you need something sweet as it will
stop you reaching for a refined sugary treat. Also kids love it!
You will need;


5-10 organic apples (apple of your choice) – leave their skin on & chop up roughly into small
chunks.
Half a cup of water
A couple of spoonfuls of soft brown sugar if you have a bit of a sweet tooth.
Pop all ingredients into a saucepan for approx 30 mins, or until they are soft.
Don't let it dry out completely and add a little water to keep moist if necessary.
Keep chunky or mash up according to desired texture. Store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to
a week.
Perfect for a sweet topping on porridge, pancakes or add to plain yoghurt! A spoon a day will
help to keep that gut in tip-top condition!
